Library Books

Taupo Public Library issued 192 overdue notice cards to borrowers during July. In her report to the Monthly meeting of Taupo Borough Council, the librarian, Mrs D. J. Smyrk. said to date 200 books had been returned and most of the fines had been collected. Mrs Smyrk said 100 intermediate and 200 junior exchange books from the Country Library Service were received and the same number were returned. During the month 21 adult, 36 junior, and 16 county borrowers were enrolled. Membership at the end of July was 2202 adult, 1909 junior and 836 county borrowers. Fifty junior and 78 adult books were added to stock and there are now 11,959 books on the shelves. Of these 9920 books were loaned during the month. Desk receipts for July amounted to £150/19/3.
