Inquest Into Double Death

Concluding an inquest into the deaths of a Hastings marketing officer, Mr Robert Brodie, 43, and his wife, Zana^ Mollie Brodie, 41, the Taupo district coroner Mr J. D. L. Corry, found that they were due to severe head and chest injuries sustained in an accident on Pebruary 2, 1965, on the Taupo-Napier highway, near Rangitaiki. The car, driven by Mr Brodie, collided with the trailer of a truck. There was a skid mark of 82ft. and the car was extensively damaged. Mr Corry said the accident was caused by the speed of the car. Mr Brodie was killed in the accident and Mrs Brodie died the following day in Rotorua Hospital.
