Over 2000 At Taupo Primary Schools
At present there are 2022 children attending Taupo district's six primary schools which contribute pupils to Taupo-nui-a-Tia College — 1100 boys and 922 girls. A break-down of the figures show 370 first year Infants, 382 seoond tyear, 242 in Standard 1, 230 in Standard 2, 244 in Standard 3, 189 in Standard 4, 193 in Form 1 and 172 in Form II. Births registered in Taupo have increased from 77 in 1951 to 364 in 1964. The greatest number recorded was 443 in 1962. Attendance rolls at the college have increased from 225 in 1960 to 467 this year. The estimated number of pupils for the next four years are 540 in 1966, 600 in 1967, 700 in 1968 and 770 in 1969. It has also been estimated that the number of pupils leaving college will be 107 this year, 120 in 1966, 150 in 1967, 180 in 1968 and 200 in 1969.
