BEGINNER'S LUCK

A visitor to Taupo from Russell caught 14 fish totalling about 50 lbs, including two fish of 5Hbs and 6tlbs, last week. He was Mr L. Williams, who took the fish on a wet fly from the Waitahanui River. Mr Williams, who once owned a big game fishing launch, had had no previous experience of trout fishing. Similar success was had by Mr A. Nola, from Glen Eden. With borrowed rod and gear he took two fish within an hour in the same river. This catch was followed up with another the next morning, when Mr Nola took nine fish when trolling from the lakefront.
