The planning of further ! medical facilities at Turangi to meet the needs of the new population there is well advanced, it ' was anivmnced today by

the project engineer for the Tongariro power development, Mr A. W. Gibson, "The provision of a new maternity hospital is being treated as a matter of urgency and tenders will be called in a couple of weeks," said Mr Gibson. "The hospital will be a 'cottage' type and will consist initially of three units to accommodate staff, operating facilities and up to eight patients. It will stand on a pleasant and secluded site at the extreme north of the town overlooking the Tongariro River."
