Be Registered?
A proposal for the registration of p^wer boats is expected to be placed before the Minister of Marine, Mr Scott, within the next two week^. Official sources said last week a registration scheme had been evolved by the Marine Department after talks with representatives of various organisations, including harbour boards and boating clubs. The proposal is reported to embrace all power boats and to pmvide that members of boating clubs
could register with their clubs or with an officM regi^try. Registration marklngs would conslst of three numbers placed before letters. Boat club members could have letters corresponding to their club. Harbour boards have argued that without such means of identifying power boats it would be almost impossible for them tp police restricted water areas, such as those reserved for swimming and in which water skiing is prohibited.
