150 School Children Will See Springboks At Napier

The Taupo Rugby Subunion management committee was notifted on Monday night that arrangements had been made for 150 Taupo school children to see the Springbok-Hawke's Bay Rngby match at Napier on September 11. One school teacher will accompany each 25 children. The charge for each child will be 2/-, but bus fare will be additional. The committee confirmed that the Taupo senior representatives would play Tongariro for the Maniapoto Cup on August 14 at Tokaanu. Mr A. Travers was appointed as manager. It was also agreed that a third grade representative side would play a Tongariro team as a curtain-raiser, Mr L. Casey to be the manager. A grant of £20 was made to the Taupo Primary Schools' Sports Assn.

With one match to be played between United and Tihoi, points in the Garrett Shield championship are: United 13, College Old Boys 12, Tihoi 11 and Taupo 10. If Tihoi beats United in the final match on August 21, the teams will be declared joint winners. Points in the Seymour Rose Bowl competition to date are: Tihoi, COB and United, 2 each, Taupo 0. There are three more fixtures to be played and if any teams are then still equal, there will be a playoff. COB will play Taupo as a curtain-raiser to the Garrett Shield final match on August 21. The other two Rose Bowl

matches, • between United and Taupo and COB and Tihoi, will be played at Taupo on August 29. The committee approved the playing of a challenge match for the George Nepia Cup between Taupo Maoris, the holders, and Napier-Has-tings Maoris at Taupo on August 15. A curtain-raiser will be played between the Taupo primary schools Ross Shield representatives and "The Rest." The Taupo Maori representative team will be as follows: P. Harrison; M. Gordine, T. Albert, L. Balmforth; T. Ruru or C. H. Williams, L. Tamepo; P. Brown; D. Rameka; K. Hurae, R. White, M. Hurae, G. Koopu; C. A. Williams, B. Albert, J. H. Wall. Reserves: A. Walker, B. Rata, S. Rutene, R. Chase; G. Blake, K. Palmer, J. Tawera, T. Ngamutu.
