Unique "Parade of Suede" Is Planned For Taupo
One of the most unusual mannequin parades ever staged in Taupo is being planned for mid-Septem-ber. It will be a "Parade of Suede" and fund^ raised will go to the Taupo Plunket Society. The parade is being organised by Mr W. E. Hindmash, the managing director of Export Leather Industries Ltd., an organisation Mr Hindmarsh has "set up to handle fashion-made clothing from the skins of deer and goats. Both men's and women's clothing will be shown. It is hoped to show about 36 garments worn by five professional Auckland models. This type of parade will be repeated in the main centres in an effort to de-
ivelop a local market for the ! clothing prior to establishing Australian, United States and European markets. This is the first commercial use of deerskin suede for clothing in New Zealand and the marketing programme is a preliminary to the setting up of a tanning process in Taupo. The tannery will probably use geothermal steam for processing.
