Pre-School Class
Tauhara Primary School ; has started a pre-school elass for children under five years of age in an effort to overcome the lack of kindergarten facilities in the Tauhara area. The class, which is attached to the school, will be limited to 20 children. A roster system of local mothers will be formed, two of whom will take the class under guidance of a teacher each Wednesday. Headmaster of the school, Mr L. W. White, said the idea for the class came from the school staff. He said experience elsewhere in New Zealand with pre-school classes has shown that many children benefit from six months in the environment of a classroom before regular attendance becomes a matter of daily routine. Looking to the future, Mr White hopes that parents in the Tauhara area will take sufficient interest in the class to want to form a separate kindergarten away from the school. He said the Tauhara School Committee was in fuil 8upport sf the class schemt.
