Primary School Water Charges

Taupo Primary School has requested Taupo Borough Council to eonsider giving relief to the amount schools are charged for water. On the recommendation of the works committee, council decided at its meeting last week that as water charges have not been changed since 1957 the position should remain the same. It was of the opinion that school committees should try to get the Education Department to pay a more realistic, share of the school running costs. Council explained that' school committees receive half the cost for water from education boards and the school committee has to find the balance. School are charged at 2/per 1000 gallons and school baths at 1/6. Current water charges made to the Taupo Primary School are £84 and £11/5/for the baths:
