Bleak Conditions At Hinemaiaia

June 28 was the first occasion in seven years that snow has fallen at Hinemaiaia A power station, said the borough electrical engineer, Mr K. G. Stewart, in his monthly report to Taupo Borough Council. Rainfall at the station for the month was 5.07 inches and there were 11 wet days and 16 days with frost. Frosts up to 13.2 degrees were measured during the month. In the period a bulldozer has been employed straightening up and realigning the private road into the power house, removing some of the unnecessary bends and improving the drainage. Some 200 poplar cuttings were planted on the road siding by the lakeside, which was becoming unstable in places due to high water run-off. One new culvert was placed in this section of the road and three culvert outlets were flumed down to the lake edge.
