Shortage Of Guiders

The local association of Taupo Girl Guides has 113 memhers on its role. There are 58 children on the waiting list for the two brownie packs and also a considerable number who have been transferred to the guide waiting lists. This is because the brownies will be too old before they are able to join the movement. The waiting list is due to insufficient instructors who rre able to take the various sections. Thirty-nine out of the total of 52 guides attended camps during the past year. Mentioning this in her report to the annual meeting of the association, the district commissioner, Mrs A. W. Lindup, said the guides camped twice at the Whakaipo Bay girl guide camp and also on a farm at Wairakei. "Guides gained self confidence and reliability, with the leaders accepting full responsibility," she said.
