Not The Only Carrier Out Of Airport
The application by South Pacific Airlines of New Zealand for sole rights at Taupo airport did not mean that Spanz would be the only carrier operating out of the aerodrome, Captain R. Daniell, general manager of the company, said on Thursday. He said this was what he told the Taupo Airport Committee on Wednesday, when, on the committee's invitation, he gave it the background to the application by Spanz to the Air Licensing Authority. The application meant that Spanz would be able to contract out any work it was unable to do itself. Captain Daniell pointed out that while NAC had sole rights to the AucklandWellington run, Spanz occasionally flew the route under the NAC licence. The committee had given him a cordial reception, he added. The chairman of the airport committee, Mr D. D. Davis said the committee would be making submissions to the authority on the matter.
