CHARGED WITH RECEIVING

Peter James Winiata, 28, Rangipo workman, who absconded from bail after being charged in the Taupo Magistrate's Court with receiving two watches, was located in Foxton and later sentenced to 12 months* imprisonment in the Palmerston North Magistrate's Court. Winiata was also charged with theft of a rifle. The watches were believed to have been stolen from the Turangi Pharmacy on April 13, when stock valued at £130 was taken. On May 10, an angler fishing at the Red Hut Pool on the Tongariro River, found the bulk of the articles stolen, which were mainly watches.
