Some Good Basketball Scoring In Last Week's Taupo Games

Beatles beat College by 21 points in the first Taupo Indoor Basketball Association game, on Wednesday. College had a bad night with their shooting and everything seemed to go against them. The game between Aratiatia and Tauhara was rather scrappy in the first half. But in the second half both teams improved their games with Tauhara looking the winners throughout. This was the biggest upset of the season with Tauhara, the lowest-rated team, beating the highly-rated Aratiatia.

Huka were too strong for 60/8, mainly due to some very good shooting by D. Clark. St. John's, with a slender lead of two points in the first half, could not hold Hillbillies in the second half, going down by six points. The first game on Thursday between All Stars and Educats saw the latter with a three-point lead at the interval and were very lucky to run out the winners by two points. The game between Tauhara and Teachers saw two good teams in action and the one-point win to Tauhara showed how good the defence of both turned out to be. The Lavenders and Comets game was a rather drab affair with not very much good basketball by either side.
