Prison For Man Who Drove While Disqualified

On a charge of driving while disqualified, George Whakaruru, 28, Waitahanui workman, was sentenced to six weeks' impri^onment by Mr G. J. Donne in the Taupo Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. On a charge of breaeh of probation, Mr Donne imposed a further sentence of six weeks' imprisonment, the term to be cumulative. Whakaruru had previous convictions for driving while disqualified and the periods of disqualification already dmposed were increased by 12 months to January 20, 1970. A charge of causing bodily harm by carelessly using a motor vehicle brought against Walter John Lee, 29, Hastings truck driver, was dismissed by Mr Donne. Lee was represented by Mr A. Wane, Hastings. Other Charges Fines for other traffic offences were imposed by Mr Donne as follows, costs
