Charge Follows Accident On Heu Heu St. Intersection
Convicted of carelessly using a motor vehicle. Aiftjhur Sygnor Mahae Watson, 51, Te Awamutu
painter, wa^ lined £25 and was disqualified froni driving for 12 nvonths except for business purposes within stipulated hours after he appeared j before Mr G. J. Donne, i S.M. in Taupo Magis- j trate's Court on Monday. Sergeant T. A. A. Marson said Watson had told the police he was not conversant with Taupo's streets. He had failed to see a give way sign. Sergeant Marson also explained that the road had at the time of the accident, March 28, recently been re-sealed and there were no white marker lines. A passenger in Watson's car at the time of the accident had subsequently died, explained Mr G. , T. O'Sullivan, who appeared for Watson. His client had a previous good record, without any accidents. Watson's car had been struck by another car which had the right of way, receiving damage amounting to £400.
