Level Was Well Down
The level of Lake Taupo was down to 1174.2 ft. on Friday, giving 2.2 ft. of storage for Waikato River hydro purposes. The lake maximum level is 1177 ft. and the minimum, 1172 ft. Levels have been consistently low during the past few months, but steady rain has since fallen in the catchment areas. Melting snow is expected to help lift the level, but cold weather has put a heavy strain on power resources.
