Borough concemed over hall
Taupo Borough Council is concerned at the lack of progress being made by Taupo Maori Youth Cluh in its maintenance work on the old Taupo Courthouse. Council understands that the National Historic P 1 a c e s Trust has agreed to the cluh - making use of and maintaining the building.
Cne of the iargest wheel tractor-scrapers in Britain and Europe, the Caterpillar 657, making its first appearanee at the International Coiistruction Eqnipment Exhihition, near London, England. Powered hy an 8-cylinder 450 h.p. diesel eiigme, the tractor has a top speed of 32 m.p.h., and the transmission unit has automatic shifting from torque divider drive to direct drive to overdrive in each of the three forward speeds. The scraper, powered hy a 6-cylinder 335 h.p. diesel envine, has a capacity of 44 cuhic yards heaped, and 32 cubic yards struck and is also hydraulic controlled for positive cutting edge penetration.
