Wedding Bells

MARRETT — ELSTON

A Taupo man was married j at St. Mary's Roman Cath- 1 olic Church, Isle of Wight, on June 7. He was Mr Trevor Marrett, who is employed on the island. He is the youngest son of Mr and Mrs William Marrett, who live at the Waikato River control gates, Taupo. The bride was Miss Sonya Ann Elston, elder daughter of Mrs Rita Elston, Isle of Wight, and the late Mr R. Elston. Given away by her uncle, Mr J. Schubert, the bride wore a full-length gown of white English rose lace trimmed with nylon organza. She also wore a pearl trimmed coronet with a bouffant veii and carried a shower bouquet of pink rosebuds and lilies-of-the-valley. The chief bridesmaid, Miss Christine Wright, a friend of the bride, wore a full-length empire-line gown in blue with a head-dress of j blue and white roses. She j carried a shower bouquet of j pink roses. Two child attendants, Tracey Collins, niece and godchild of the bride, and Susan Coleman, niece of the bridegroom, wore full-length blue nylon organza dresses with matching head-dresses and carried gilt baskets of pink rosebuds. All three bridesmaids wore silver lockets and chains, gifts of the bridegroom. The best man was Lieutenant - Commander John Coleman, R.N.Z.N., a stepbrother of the bridegroom. The reception was held at, an Isle of Wight hotel, and presents included a dinner service from the staffs of the island's telephone exchanges. The bride was a telephonist before her marriage. .
