FAREWELLS TO OFFICER
A tareweii was neia on Saturday night for Mr and Mrs G. Mcllmurray, of the Tongariro Prison Farm. Mr Mcllmurray, who is on promotlon transfer to Waikeria, was thanked for his contribution to the institution and to the community life of the district in particular to the St John Ambulance Brigade. He served on the brigade as superintendent since its inception four years ago. A china - cabinet was presented by the superintendent, Mr Rogers, on behalf of the officers and wives. An afternoon tea was held for Mrs Mcllmurray by members of the Presbyterian Ladies' Guild at which she was thanked for many services to the Guild and *he church during her four year's stay. Members of the St John Ambulance Association and brigade gathered on Tuesday evening to farewell their superintendent. Appreciation was expressed by the association chairman, Mr T. Dempsey, the secretary, Mr N. Williams and by Mr R. Bell on behalf of members of the association. Mrs A. Skinner spoke on behalf of the ladies division. All paid tribute to Mr Mcllmurray's efforts to organise and build the brigade^ to its present effciency. A standard lamp was presented as a tokon of thanks for all his work during the past four years. i
