Wilson And Ward Winners
Of Stableford
V. A. Wilson and G. Ward totalled 70 points to win a senior and junior aggregate stableford competition at the Taupo Golf Club on Saturday. Tees were placed well back and, with playing conditions on the heavy side, scoring was much higher than in recent weeks. The best A grade stableford card was returned by Pat Watson, 35 points. Runner-up was G. Marsland. 34 points. The B grade stableford event was won by G. Ward 37 points, on a count-back from H. Hawkes. A competition was alsc held for twos at 3rd or 11 ti holes, but no player was able to birdie the holes. The competition will carry for ward to next week. The Bay of Plenty intermediate pennant competition was concluded with the playing of the second serie,s at Taupo on Sunday. The overall com-
petition — the first series was played at Opotiki — wTas wTon by Whakatane with 7 4 wins. Placings of the other teams were: — Rotorua 7 wins, Te Puke 61, Opotiki 54, Te Teko 4, Mount Maunganui, Murupara, Springfield 34, Taupo, Tauranga 2, Waiotapu Valley 0. On Sunday, the Taupo team gained 16 individual wins in winning two matches. The team 1 comprised V. Wilson, J. G. Miles, G. Marsland. H. Thompson, K. Neill and B. i Halyerson. K. Neill and D. Collins were successful in ! a concealed hole competition held in conjunction with the ) pennant series. i The annual president's 5 v captain's match will be J played next Saturday. A - social will be held in the clubhouse in the evening.
