COMMITTEE MAY CONSIDER STANDING DOWN PLAYERS

The management committee of the Taupo Rugby sub-union will in future consider standing down from club Rugby any players selected for representative teams who fail to turn *ont in time for a match without adequate reason. This resolution was adopted at Monday night's meeting of the committee after Mr J. H. Wall had criticised the apparently inconsiderate attitude of some players who had let the side down in- representative matches already played this seasOn. The committee received advice that two Matamata referees would control the senior matches in Taupo on Saturday. This is in accordance with arrangements made for an annual exchange of referees. The Taupo referees, Messrs J. W, Arthurs and L. Watkins refereed matches in Matamata three weeks ago. The reason that All Black brothers, C. and S. Meads had not played for Maniapoto against Taupo last Sunday was the chairman, Mr O. Delany explained, because

they had received notice to leave for the south on Sunday to take part in the New Zealand trials. C. Meads had offered to make the trip to Taupo and return to catch the night train, but it had been thought advisable to decline the offer. Mr Wall advised the committee that arrangements were in hand to entertain the Waihi team to a hangi after the Peace Cup eliminatfon match with Taupo on June 27. The Taupo Maori representatives will play Tauranga Maoris at Taupo on Sunday. Maori B teams from both districts will play a curtain-raiser to this match. The Taupo Borough Council will be asked to carry out necessary maintainence in the domain dressing rooms. TAUPO DISTRICT Boy Scouts Association can make £20 from each ton of binder twine collected. The twine is sent to a firm in Foxton i for processing.
