THE LAKE WAS ROUGH

Six members of Taupo Yacht Club who set out for a sail on Lake Taupo on Sundajr, struck bad weather after reaching Rangatira Point. Conditions had been good at the start, but at Rangatira Point one of the craft turned back when the crew decided the water was too rough. The remaining two yachts sailed as far as Boat Harbour, in Kawakawa Bay, where they spent the night sheltering from the wdnd. The crews comprised Messrs F. Witham and B. McKenzie in a 33ft. trima- | ran and Messrs G. Dawson : and R. Clare in a 17ft. cruisj ing yacht. Mr and Mrs W. | Morgan were the crew who ; decided to turn back. | The party had intended to ' | do some fishing, but as con- ' | ditions were unsatisfactory, ' they were content to stay in ■ Boat Harbour for the night.
