The ehairman of the I Rotorua County Council, Mr N. B. Hunt, said last I week he felt the East | Mihi Crown settlement j should "definitely" be included in the Rotorua j County area. He was commenting on remarks made by some East Mihi farmers who said they do not want. to be t.ransferred from the Taupo County into the Rotorua County area. "I think that East Mihi should definitely be included in the Rotorua County area," said Mr Hunt. j He said access to the j Mihi area was through the j Rotorua County.
"The Taupo County Council hap to come in through the Rotorua County to service the Mihi area," he said. "What good is that?" Mr Hunt said he understood that the former superintendent of land development in the Rotorua district — before the Mihi area had ever been sett.led — had recommended that East Mihi be included in the Rotorua County beeause access -was through Rotorua County. Doubted Mr Hunt said he doubted that the council would at its next meeting discuss the remarks made by the East Mihi farmers. He said the proposed boundary change was now in the hands of the Local Government Commission. Eight East Mihi farmers this week told members of the Taupo County Council that they hoped their land would remain in the Taupo County. There are 35 farmers in the district and a majority of them are said to have expressed a similar desire.
