SCENIC TOURS COMPANY
TAKEN OVER
After two years1 operation in Taupo, the busi- j ness of Taupo Scenic Tours Limited has been taken over by a Pictonbased company known as Marlborough Scenic Tours Limited. Manager of the company,
Mr P. J. Carlyie, said yesterday that the takeover would have no adverse effect on the operation of a tour service in the Taupo area. "The provision of the service in Taupo is guaranteed for the future and no move will be made to terminate j it," said Mr Carlyie. There were three shareholders in Taupo Scenic j Tours. Two of the share- j
holders have been bought out, but the third holder, Mr E. Leyland, will remain in the Information Centre. The secretary of the company is Mr G. Smith, Taupo. Taupo Scenic Tours had two buses operating in the district. One of these will be taken to Picton and the other will remain in Taupo. ^ , The Marlborough company operates tours on the West Coast in the northern regions of the South Island. It also operates a scheduled passenger service on three runs.
