SOME FAST BASKETBALL

Teachers were in top form when they beat St. John's by 13 points in the opening game for the Taupo Indoor Basketball Association's competition on Wednesday. For the winners, G. Furlong, L. Watkins and R. Lewis did all the scoring and for the losers R. Blackler and G. Spackman were the scorers. Eagles were lucky to beat Tauhara (w). Tauhara were determined to give nothing away. Eagles' points were scored by' G. Tewano (16), D. Coker, J. O'Brien and C. Watkins. Tauhara's points ! were scored by B. Forsythe (12) and A. Crowther (12). Bears a good run for their money and held them to a 14-point margin. The surprise of the night saw All Stars down Comets by the narrow margin of five points. B. Bromley, playing her j first game of the season, ; scored a valuable 14 points for All Stars, while for the losers, C. Draper and P. Slatter were hard workers. Thursday's first game saw Educats heat Lavenders by eight points.

S. Garvey and B. Williams were the best players on the night for Educats and for Lavenders, S. Frost and E. Anderson had good games. College ran all over 60/8 to down them by a margin j of 30 points. The young College team is improving all the time and is going to be a force to reckon with in the future. Aratiatia were not the team of previous weeks when they were beaten by Checkers. For Checkers, P. ElWin (18 points) and M. Gourley (15) were the top | scorers. J. Waiwai and E. I Taute were hard workers for Aratiatia.
