Diplomat Speaks to Taupo

The background to the diplomatic ,service was explained to the Taupo Rotary Club on Thursday night by Mr Patrick R. Porter, first secretary of British Inf o r.m a tiou Services at Auckland. Mr Porter also spoke of the present international situation in South-East Asia, with particular reference to Vietnam and Maylaysia. An honours graduate of the University of London, where he studied at the London School of Economics and Politieal Science, Mr Porter served
as education officer in Western Nigeria and as British information officer in Nigeria before coming to New Zealand. During the second World War, Mr Porter served in Arctic convoys, Russia, India, Burma, Normandy, French Indo-China and, Siam. i~i i"n"i mTI"> ihi lllii"
