NZBC MAINTAINS A HIGH

STANDARD

The NZBC is obliged by legislation to maintain high standards of decency and good taste in television programmes. As an added safeguard, it voluntarily submits imported programmes to the ,film censor for classification on the same basis as material intended for public screening in cinemas. Films acceptable to the j

censor are certified as G, Y or A. G films, those approved for general exhibition, may be telecast at any time although some are of a nature which makes them preferable for later placement in an evening's programme. Itiems labelled Y — approved for general exhibition, but recommended as suitabie for persons 13 and over — are played after 8 p.m.
