Dance And Kunac Beaten In "Mugs" Competition

The defeat of last year's winners, A. Dance and A. Kunac, by R. Irving and N. Clark Avas a feature of first round match-play in the Middlemore Mugs four-ball competition at the Taupo Golf Club 011 Saturday. The competition, one of the most popular on the club's calendar, attracted a large entry and ther-e were many close matehes in the first round. Saturday' s subsidiary competition, a stableford event, resulted: A grade — R. Kerridge, 42 points; J. L. Wragge, 40; T. S. Leech, 39; B grade — J. Burnand, 38; C. J. Jones, 36; M. J. Morel, 35.

Sunday's A grade stableford was won by G. Marsland, 41, with R. Irving, 37 runner-up. D. N. Anderson, 36, was successful in the B grade. Miss C. Scott, 36, won a ladies' stableford event Dn Sunday afternoon. Handicap changes are: J. F. Watson, 12 to 11; D. Sharrock, 26 to 23; J. Burnand, 18 to 17; N. Ferguson, 16 to 15; M. Flowers, 14 to 15; B. Garlick, 20 to 21; R. How, 26 to 25; D. Rameka, 14 to 13; R. Ridley, 16 to 15; J. Saver, 33 to 31; K. Stewart, 19 to 18; R. Kerridge, 11 to 7; M. G, Tinui, 19 to 18; L. B. Davies, 26 to 24; K. Currie, 34 to 30; J. Y. Sabota, 20 (new handicap).
