Excavatioh w.ork for the coiiduit line Avas the main project in the construction work on the new Hinemaiaia dam in April. Reporting to Taupo Borough Council on Monday, the electrical engineer, Mr K. G. Stewart, said the first 600 feet length of the conduit bed was excavated rough ly to grade. Some slight trouble was experienced with seepage v^ater. More than £10,000 value of work was completed on the scheme during the month. This included reinforcing of the east wing wa 11 of the dam and along the first 40 feet of the spillway crest. The special steel shuttering for the formation of the 7ft 6in internal diameter conduit line arrived on the site. Mr Stewart said clearing of the lake bed was started and ' a small amount of millable timber has since been remoyed from the s site.
