Young People Interested In Town
The Taupo Rangers, who are the senior members of the Girl Guide movement, take an active part in the civic affairs of Taupo and like to be acquainted with whatever is going on in the town. Three of the girls (pictured) who took part in the 1965 Anzac Day parade in Taupo were (left) Colleen Steen, Diana White and Ann Dutfield. This is one of the many functions the Rangers perform in the town. Other activities include helping with serving suppers at various functions in the town, such as Red Cross and Taupo Dramatic Society, and helping with collections for organisations. One of their major undertakings was to help in the homes of elderly people in Taupo after school. At present there are only five Rangers in Taupo, but there is an open request for girls between 15 and 20 years of age to join the movement.
