INCREASED MEMBERSHIP
Membership of the Taupo Ambulance Transport sclieme has risen from 690 to 890 since last year, said the president of the Taupo St. John Ambulance Association, Mr J. E. Story. Reporting to the annual meeting of the association. he thanked the Taupo Ro tarv Club, members of St, John Ambulance Brigade and all other people who helped with the scheme's appeal day. He said the brigade transported 211 patients to hospital over the past 12 months. Thirty-two patients were road accidents, 21 other accidents and 148 medical. He said nine trips were made to the Waikato Hospital, two to Tauranga? three to Napier, 195 to Rotorua, one to Wellington and one to Palmerston North. "Ambulance attendance duties totalled 6121 hours and as many hours were spent on sports duties by members of the nursihg division and cadets. "Nearly 200 cases were treated on public duties by members of both groups," said Mr Story. Mr Story concluded his report by requesting that a letter of appreciation be sent to Mr B. F. Dutfield from the association, thanking him for the years of service he has given to the association and the brigade.
