Some Delay On Hospital Plans

Working dra wings for the construction of the proposed Taupo Hospital, in Kotare Street, will be started once the amended plans have been returned from the Department of Health in Hamilton. The Waikato Hospital Board has been working with the Lands Department on the plans, but there has been a hold-up in the department. The Taupo member of the Board, Mr J. W. Birnie, said the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Mr Beechman, advised him that the delay had been caused by members of the department's qualified staff leaving to join private survey firms. Mr Beechman hoped that

the plans would be a matter of priority and Mr Birnie expressed the desire that if department surveyors could not complete their workj soon, the department should engage private surveyors to act urgently in the matter.
