Indoor Basketball Games
Played
In the first game in the Taupo Indoor Basket- ; ball Association matches last vveek, Tauhara I. beat 60/8 with 53 points to liil. All last week's games were played on one night as the hall was not available on Thursday. Checkers did not appear to be able to get on top of All Stars in their game, winning by only a margin of eight points in a low scoring game. Teachers were too strong for Demons. G. Furlong and R. Lewes were the scorers for Teachers, while W. Blackbourne and R. Darlington played well for Demons. Lavenders beat Tauhara by 15 points. For the winners the Frost sisters had good games. Tauhara is improving with every game and after a few more games will be verj^ hard to beat. College recorded its first win due to the good play of D. Woodney, C. Broughton and L. Armstrong. In this game Huka gave what
would be only a poor exhibition of basketball. If they would give up their rush and tear tactics it would make a big improvement in their game. Comets were lucky to escape defeat in their game against Educats, they only gained their winning point in the dying moments of the game. Hillbillies with a 14-point margin over Tauhara II. did not have things all their own way. Eagles versus Aratiatia was the biggest surprise of the season for in this game Aratiatia looked, on form, to be the winners, but this was not to be for Eagles got on top right from the first whistle and from then on gave nothing away. For the winners J. Tewano was outstanding and D. Coker and J. O'Brien 10 and 11 points respectively. One feature which must be corrected is the fact that a lot of teams must get their uniforms in order.
