Power Is Important Factor

One of the rnain tactors in proposals for the amalganiation of the Taupo borough with the Taupo county vvould be the supply of electricity over the whole couuty area, said the Mayor of Taupo, Mr J. E. vStory this week. He felt that with sound preparation, proposaljs would be given every consideration. He commended the friendly approach borough and county councillors had jointly made. The county chairman Mr H. M. Besley, said that the joint opmmittee had been unanimous thau an effort should be made to effect amalganiation. It wap now a matter of knowing how. Amalganiation could set a pattern which would economically benefit the whole county w h i c h was still in a semi-dev-eloped stage. Mr Besley emphasised that a 11011parochial outlook was being taken. Councillors of both borough and county were interested in the benefits to ratepayers and the progress of the areas involved.
