New Convent Opens On August 1
The new Taupo Catholic Convent will be opened on August 1 by Bishop de Largy, reported Father J. de Bree to a recent meeting of the Taupo Catholic Women4 s League. Bishop de Largy will tadjminister Confirmation during the morning of the day and he will bless and open the convent in the afternoon. Activities at the meeting included a report from Mrs McCormick on the Dioceson conference of the league, held recently in Hamilton. As a new departure, the next monthly meeting of the league will be held on the morning of June 3, and a social morning tea will follow at which all ladies of the parish will be welcome. Competition results were: * Best stalk, Mrs Tritt 1, Mrs Crowther 2, Mrs McCormick 3. Best bloom, Mrs Tritt 1, Mrs Logan 2, Mrs Healy 3.
