Dismissal by International Contractors of a rigger engaged 011 the geothermal contract at Wairakei sparked a dow n-tools decisiou hy 400 men on Tuesday morning following a secret ballot. >n Monday the inen vvorked only in tiie morning. No work was done again yesterday. It is understood that the men refused to act ori a ruling by the Department: oi' Labour and that offieials of tlie Workers' Cnion and Carpenters' IJnion who eonsulted with the men's spokesmen returned to Auckland yesterday. A representative of the eompany who was questionert yesterday afternoon about reasons for the company's aetion, declined to make any statement. rrhat was the position when this edition of the Times went to press this morning.
