The Takanini trained Jack's Count may be a popular choice to win the oue mile Jellicoe Handicap at the Pakuranga Hunt Club's annual meetiug at Ellerslie on Saturday. This race, which has attracted a field of 19, will be the first leg of the double. The second leg is the Admiralty Handicap, of six furlongs, with a field of 14/ A five-year-old by Count Rendered-Gold Shread, Jack's Count runs a very solid mile.

Jack's Count has won three of his last six races, his most recent outing being in the Telegrapli Handicap at Avondale last month when he had half a length to spare from Sambula, a Trentham wlnner, with Nor East, a length further back in third place. Earlier in the old season Jack's Count wou the one mile City Handicap at Ellerslie and the Mt Roskill Handicap at Avondale. This event, too, was run over one mile. The hardest for him to Deat may De Uppercut, wlnner of two seven furlongs races — one at Ellerslie and the other at Avondale — last season, and the consistent Sambula. Other fancled runners may include Stanhill, Impeller and Fiying Meteor. Triple Chance, a winner at his previous start at Matamata last Saturday, may be the one to beat In the Admiralty Handicap.
