MISS MARGARET FULLJAMES HONOURED AT
COMING-OF-AGE PARTY
ONE of the most enjoyable com-iog-of-age parties held at Taupo for many years was that given at the Buffalo Mall, Rotokawa Street, last Saturctay uight in honour of Miss Margaret Fulljames, only daughter of Mr ■ and Mrs W. L. Fulljames. Approximately 130 relatives and friends of the family were present. Th-Qi'e were guests from many parts of the North Island, including Mr and Mrs G. Ifale and Mr Donald Hale, Miss Margaret Dixon (Lower Hutt), Mr and Mrs H. Harvey, Mr John Harvey, Miss Alison Harvey (Levin), Miss Ivay Oollins (Shannon), Mr Peter Caliister (Hamilton), Mr and Mrs F. li. Crane (Whakatane), Mr and Mrs G. MaeGregor (Rotorua), Misses Ruth and Lois Anehor (Tauranga). Numerous Presents As the guests entered ihe hall they were greeted in tuni by .Mr and Mrs Fulljames and Margaret. The guest of honour wore a beautiful white frock of layered French nylon tulle over
satin. The outer layer was patterned with silver leaves, and caught at the hemline with tiny ribbon bows to form a scalloped effeet. The long uA-line" bodice featured a bueket neckline. The frock was mucli admired. Mrs Fulljames wore a coeoa taffeta floeked with black velvet, with a black siik velvet eummerbuud. O11 a trestle hear the entrance was displayed a variety of presents which showed only too cleariy the regard with which Margaret was held hy many people. Among them was oue which had a touch of the imusual.
Aecompanyiiig a gardening-fork and trowel was a note which said : "To Margaret: May your birthday bring you many special joys that you will always be happy to reinember. With tliese gardening tools Mum and I)ad present to you with tlieir good wislies a section of 'Good Eartli' at Rawhiti Street, and wish you many happy hours of gardening.-'. Guests Signed Key Master of Ceremonies was Mr C. S. Currie, who throughout the evening kept the programme going at a good pace. It opened with a toast proposed by Dr J. S. Armstrong to the Queen, and was followed by oue to Margaret by Mr F. R. Crane, former headmaster at the Taupo Schooi. II e Vvished ber long life and happiness, and presented lier witli the. traditional "key of the door," which was afterwards signed by every oue present. Margaret made a brief, appropriate sp#cli, then cut the birthday cake before lier. Tlie supper was delicious, obviously the result of careful planning and attention to detail. After supper there was dancing to an excellent threepiece orchestra, and ihe last guests to file out of the hall said goodnight to Margaret at oue o'clock in the morning.
