GARDENING CIRCLE'S MEETING

■ Mrs A. M. Tierney acted as liostess at the meeting of the Taupo Countrywomen's Institute gardening circle held at the liome of Mrs G. Davis on July 10. The president; ^irs F. E. M. Bostock, welcomed Mr G. Colbeck, who gave a | talk on the propagation of summer chrysanthemums, the most useful and easily grown flowers for Taupo garI dens. He also gave advice on the control of insect pests. Afternoon tea was served in the lounge, and members were shown Mrs I Davis's collection of hoiise plants. The sand-posy competition, judged by Mr Colbeck, was won by Mrs G. Murpliy, and tlie plant-naming competition by Mrs C. Houlton. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs Gumbley, Spa Road.
