C.W.I. MEETING
There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Taupo Countrywomen's Institute in llickit's Tearoms on Wednesday, Noveinher 10. Mrs A. M. Tierney read an inleresting article by Mrs A. M. Berry, president of the Associated Countrywomen of the World, and also explained the ineaning of "International Month," observed each November, and of the "Pennies for Friendship" scheme, under which all Institute members contribute one penny per year toward the support of the World Association. Motto for the month was "We live by admiration, hope and love," and the Roll Call was "the colour r dislike most." This indicated that the majority like alinost any colour and that bright shades are most popular. A report on the inonth's activitios oi' the Gardening Circle was given by Mrs W. Stowe, and several proposals for the betterment of next year's Flower Show were considered. The Social Committee is busy with preparations for the Children's Christmas party, to be lield on Saturday, December 10, and for the "Honouring Age" party to be lield on Wednesda.v, Decoinber 21. Blooms sliown in tlie compet.il ions were specially good, results being: — Best bloom, Mrs Gumhley ; Best cluster, Mrs Bostock and Mrs G. Arnold, equal ; Vegetables, Mrs Stowe. Following afternoon tea the meeting closed with the National Anthem.
