WOMEN'S BOWLING

The Taupo Women's Bowling Club held its official opening on Friday, November 11, when visiting players were present from the Putaruru, Mangakino, Rotorua and Arawa (Rotorua) Clubs. The Mayoress, Mrs J. E. Story, patroness of the Club, declared the season open and threw up the first kitty, while a Rotorua visitor, Mr Groom, as the only man present, was invited to play the first bowl. A spider competition was won by Mrs Sairley, of Arawa. The rinks competition was won by a Taupo team comprising Mrs K. McMillan, Mrs N. Pearse, Mrs V. Simpson and Mrs W. G. Morris (skip), which won from a tie with an Arawa team skipped*by Mrs Webb.
