Taupo Wins Opening Match . i The Taupo Cricket Club beat the | Chateau in its first match of the seal scon on Sunday November 6, when it l obtained a first innings lead of 94 I runs and dismissed seven of its opl ponents for G5 runs in the second i knoek. IReynolds and Kennedy opened the Taupo bowling and the former rnade r Hill play on to the first ball of his 1 v | second over. Although he was not I expensive, Kennedy was soon relieved by Jack Nathoo who, in his fourth \ over, broke a steady partnership by I Anderson and Dunn. and from then I onwards obtained wickets steadily. He t finished with five wickets for 16 runs f off eight overs. The remaining five I wickets were shared by five other | bowlers. After Taupo had lost two early I wickets, Roberts and Sutherland re- ; trieved their fortunes with a partner- ( ship of 49 and later Jack Nathoo and I) Reynolds added 54 for the seventh r ? wicket, wliile Stebbing rau into ; double figures in assisting Reynolds r to becoipe topscorer. Francis and I Anderson were the best Chateau I bowlers but the job was too heavy I for thern against; verv steady Taupo I batting. In the Chateau second innings ReyI nolds struck a length immediately, i taking three wickets in his first two I overs. Jack Nathoo, bowling slower, I was not so successful as in the first 1 innings, but Kennedy puzzled the 1' batsmen, taking four wickets for t seven runs in five overs. With a I change in the bowling Francis hit I; about him with considerable success I and when play closed there were still 1 three wickets standing with the I Chateau 29 runs behind.
