TAUPO C.W.I.
There was an attendance of 25 members at the monthly meeting oi the Taupo Countrywomen's Institute h.eld in Rickit's Hall on Wednesday, October 19. New members welcomed were Mrs Tilley and Mrs Foote. Birthday spravs were presented to Mrs E. M. lteid, Miss E. Rickit, Mrs G. McMillan, Mrs Foote and Mrs R. Arnold. Two spray s were sent to sick members. Mrs Bostock read the report she had presented at the bi-annual federation meeting held recently in Rotorua, which gave a full account of the Taupo O.W.I. during the po.st six months. Taupo taking third place amongst 17 groups. Mrs G. McMillan gave a full report on the business dorie at Ihe fedoration meeting. Mrs Stowe spoke > n t'lie activities of the Gardening Gircle during October, mentioning special ly a pieasant afternoon spent inspecting three beautiful gardens in Waipahihi Avenue. The ro 1 1 call, "Books I have enjoyed," disclosed a varied taste in literature, from comics to classlcs. W'inners of the monthly competitions were: Article made from rushes, Mrs King ; plate of plain scones, Mrs G. Arnold; best bloom, Mrs Gumbley; eluster, Mrs Pavis and Mrs Gumhley, equal ; vegetable, Mrs Glass. The president, Mrs W. King, thanke»l all who had helped to make the 14 rthday party last month sucli a success, and hoped all members would put their shoulders to the whoel to make the. flower show on November 4 a success also.
