INDOOR BOWLERS ELECT OFFICERS AFTER SUCCESSFUL SEASON

The Taupo Indoor Bowling Club's I first annual general rueeting was held on Moriday evening, Oc-tober 17, in the War Memorial Hall. A report presented on behalf of the Executive by the Club-Oaptain, Mr F. Bostock, summarised a successful lirst season, stating that early in the year a meeting of persons interested in the formation of an indoor bowling club in Taupo was convened by Mr F. Bostock, and as considerable enthusiasm was evidenced it was decided to form a club. Yarious ways and means were devised to raise funds for purchase of the necessary equipment, and witb the assistance of the Taupo Bowling Club, which kindly made available free of charge two sets of bowls and Ihree mats, the club had been able to provide games for up to 40 players per night. Negotiations with the Borough j Council resulted in the Memorial Hallj being made available at a rental oi. £2 per night, and it had been very pleasing to note that on every club night green fees had always been sutiicient to cover the rent. Playing conditions in the hail were excellent and the Council's action in making it available, together with kitchen facilities, at a rental within their reach, was much apprfeciated. It was likely that the hall would be heated for next season and this would probably result in increased membersbip, and if so it might be Decessary for the incorning committee to consider provision of further equipment

The financial position of the club could be considered very satisfactory, with cash in liand at £54, equipment valued at £100, and no liabilities. They were fortunate in receiving from the old indoor bowling club, which had been out of existence for some years, balance of funds amounti ing to £26 8s 2d held on their behalf. I Their thanks were due to the trustees for their generosity in handing tbis j sum over. | They also wished to place on record j the generosity of Mr A. M. Tierney j in donating two handsome cups, which he had won outright while a member of the old club, for competition among member s. These cups wTere allocated to ladies' and men's singles championships, and were won by Mrs A. Thoms, with Mr Banks as runner-up, and by A. M. Tierney, with W. K. Tito as runner-up. The only other competition run was the championship pairs, won by W.j Rewa and Miss Mclsaac, with W. K. I and W. Tito as runners-up. The executive wished to record appreciation of the work of the ladies, who had so capably carried out sup-1 per arrangements, and to thank the press for giving publicity to their activities, and all others whose assistance had made their lirst season such a success. The election of officers resulted as follows : President, Mr F. Bostock; vice-president, Mr V. Simpson; capI tain, Mr W. K. Tito; vice-captain, Mr Kex Mclsaac; secretsiry-treasurer, Mr II. Thoms; committee, Mesdames | Righton, Simpson and Bostock, Messrs F. Mahanga, W. Prosser and W. Rewa. The subscription was fixed as for last season, 10s 6d, and. it was decided to open the next season in midFebruary. Affiliation with the Bay of Plenty Centre of the New Zealand Indoor Bowling Federation was decided on, which will bring the club into the Rotorua sub- centre competitions. * A suggestion adopted was tliat four | buttons be procured and played for every Monday evening, to be held for the following week by the two ladies and the two- mea with higbest scores. Aggregate scores to be kept | over two-monthly perioda. . The raeeting concluded with suppa r served by ihe ladies.
