An indication of the way in which Taupo's growth has exceeded all calculations is provided by the fact that is has already been found necessary to double the size of the present Post Office. Some 1700 sq. feet are being added on the Tongariro Street frontage, to provide additional space for the public office, the mail room, an equipment room for the Exchange and a staff lunchroom.
