HATEPE NOTES
There have been some remarkable catches of trout in the Hatepe area during the past month, mainly from boats, and the fishing at the rip, at the river mouth, has improvedi Hatepe has experienced one of the wettest winters, in the memory of local residents. Miss Teresa Morehu recently returned from a fortnight in Rotorua Hospital, following an accident which occurred when she was using a circular saw. Her left thumb was severed and first finger of the same hand injured. Hatepe owes a debt of gratitude to Mr B. Kemball, who is carrying on community matters, associated with the electric lighting of the settlement, in the continued absence, due to indisposition, of Mr W. Perry The old single-vehicle width bridge on the Main Highway is gradually becoming more battered and less safe. The new bridge, a little downstream, is completed but awaits formation of the approaches. Pot-holes in the settlement access road have recentty been attended to by the Taupo County staff. Mr and Mrs W. Long, of Hatepe and Levin, called in at their Hatepe home recently on their way south from Auckland on their return frorn a world tour.
