SPORTS GROUND SOWN

It was reported at the Borough Council meeting on Wednesday evening, September 21, that the new Sports Ground had been sown down in grass on the previous Monday. Councillors expressed their appreciation of the work done in sowing the ground by Mr K. E. Young, and the Town Clerk was instructed to convey the Council's thanks to the Taupo Golf Club for the use of their distributor. Rain fell on the Wednesday night, and again at the weekend, which should prove beneficial. The ground was sown with a mixture recommended by Mr. C. R. D. Taylor, Fields Instructor, Department of Agriculture, Rotorua, and lightly, brush harrowed. The total area sown was 11-i apres, including 5^ acres comprising the actual oval and surrounding banks.
