REPOROA GARDENERS HOLD FIRST SPRING SHOW

The Reporoa Garden Circle held their first Spring Flower Display on Monday, September 12, when there was a good attendance and an encouraging number of entries. Mrs. W. Thomas, convener, welcomed visitors and thanked the judges, Mesdames W. King, Glass, and Bostock, and Miss McClymont, of the Gardening Circle of the Taupo Countrywomen's Institute. A short talk by Mrs. King on helpful hints in preparing for a show was much appreciated by the members of this young Garden Circle. Mrs. Jepson, of Rerewhakaitu, gave a most interesting talk on cacti and succulents, of which she showed a beautiful collection. Results in the various classes were as follows: — Wall vase, Mrs. E. Anderson 1, Mrs. E. Moore 2 ; 3 best trumpet daffodils, Mrs. R. Jackson 1, Mrs. W. Moore 2; 3 best narcissi, Mrs. R. Polyblank 1, Mrs. W. Thomas 2; Miniature Arrangement, Mrs. E. Anderson 1, Mrs. E. Moore 2. Floral arrangement in pumice, Mrs. E. Anderson 1, Mrs. R. Jackson 2; Vase of Spring Flowers (not more than 12), Mrs. W. Thomas 1, Mrs. R. Jackson 2; Arrangement of Flowers in bpwl, Mrs. N. Jepsen 1, Mrs. F. A. Corney 2; Champion Bloom of Show, and Points Prize, Mrs. R. Jackson. The prizes were presented by Mrs. W. King. The judges stated that the display was a very good effort.
